We are getting to the end of the school year, so everyone is in a big rush to get things done and over with. If you see a lot of stressed-out looking teenagers around our area, that’s because school is taking too long to end, but the final exams are coming up too quickly at the same time! Funny how that works.
Congratulation to Dwayne and Kadee Harper on their marriage June 14th in Provost. Dwayne is the son of Ken and Shirley (nee Mouly) Harper. Travelling from Kirriemuir area to witness the nuptials were John and Faye Kloberdanz, Jennifer and Ashlyn McCormick, and Brien and Elaine Mouly.
Lorinda and Steve Vert are off to Vancouver to visit friends, and then up to Alaska to board a cruise ship so they can try out their sea legs.
Friends and family gathered at Casa Ference in Kirriemuir to partake in the bridal shower of Tara Ference, bride-elect of Mike Kukurudza. Mr. K was also the awesome principal in Altario last year. I think it’s safe to say that Kirriemuir residents wish them luck in their life together.
Also visiting Ed & Isabel Ference this weekend were Mike’s boys Kai and Kash from Medicine Hat, and Michael and Pauline Kukurudza – Mike’s parents – from Cochin, SK. They were joined for Father’s Day brunch Sunday morning by Lynn, Lola & Jagar Lewin, and Nicole & Lennie Brodziak. Lynn & Nicole are Mike’s sisters, who along with Pauline, Isabel and Tara headed to the Kirriemuir Hall for a bridal shower in honor of Tara. Also attending the shower from a distance was family friend Beryl Ward, great aunts Millie Heinrich & Adeline Meier from Provost, and Aunty Kathy Beier and Aunty Shirley Ference from Red Deer.
Kari Brenan arrived at Kirriemuir Friday evening to catch up with her children Skyla and Levi, who had spent the week here with Grandpa Jim & Grandma Bernie Ference. She took in Tara’s shower, wished her dad Happy Father’s Day and headed back to Edmonton on Sunday.
Birthday wishes go out to Curtis Ference on June 11th, Chuck Evashkevich on June 14th. Anniversary greetings are extended to former long-time residents Albert and Mary Vert, and Milo and Doreen Ward.
Hope all the Fathers in the area had a Happy Fathers Day by not having to go out and do farm work because it rained on and off all day!
Thats all this weeks news. Hopefully I will have some more news hatching out in the next column just like the baby robins in our back yard. ‘Til next time, this is Ashlyn McCormick signing off for now.
