The past two weeks have seen a whirlwind of activity around J.C. Charyk Hanna School. We have so many student successes that it’s hard to fit them all into one article.
J.C. Charyk Hanna School was pleased to host Hanna District 4H public speak-offs in our new theatre on March 12th. Of the nine medal winners, six were JCC students. A tip of the hat to Jacelyn Pederson, Abbegayle Brady, Sydney McMillan, Jorgie Campbell, Ashlyn McCormick, and Colby Scott.
Congratulations to grade six student Elizabeth King who was this year’s Fall Fair Booklet Cover winner.
On Friday the 17th, our school hosted a pep rally for the archery kids going to nationals and the boys hockey team playing provincials this past weekend. The Colts got a huge introduction from Mr. Tim Martin, a fancy light show from Mr. Gregson, and plenty of applause. The archers tried to do the William Tell thing with the school admins and some apples, but dollar store bows with suction cup arrows aren’t as accurate as their usual equipment. The archery team sends condolences to Mrs. Tania Karg who is recovering from suction cup wounds.
On March 18th, ten members of JCC’s archery team went to the NASP Nationals in Edmonton. Good job to our shooters! Thanks to Mr. Andrew Ashley, Mr. Sean Christensen, and Mrs. and Mrs. Tania Karg who came along as the team’s coaches.
Congratulations to the Hanna Colts who won their first two games out of three and took silver medal for the Provincial Bantam D Playdowns. Radio Hanna was on hand to provide coverage with a surprise appearance by JCC student broadcaster Joffrey Wood who popped in on Friday for a guest spot.
Our basketballs teams have wrapped their activities for another year. Our Junior Girls took gold, our JV boys took bronze, and our Senior Girls took silver in their respective zones playoffs. Great job everyone!
Upcoming news includes JCC hosting Dr. Carrington on Friday the 24th to speak to our students, the PLRD Career fair on the 29th, as well as Parent Teacher interviews after school on that day. A reminder to both students and parents that there is no school on March 31st as it is a Professional Development day for staff.
That sums up the past two weeks at JCC. Congratulations to all of our students again for their numerous successes, and we look forward to reporting even more in the next issue of the Herald.
